Women’s golfer Gautier finishes tied for 1st place

Sophomore women’s golfer Lena Gautier had a weekend to remember, finishing in a tie for first place.

Gautier carded a 226 (79, 72, 75) at 10 over par Saturday and Sunday at the Diane Thomason Invitational in Iowa City, Iowa. She finished in a tie with University of Illinois’ Dana Gattone.

As a team, the Huskies finished in sixth place out of 13 teams with a score of 943 (325, 316, 302). They were 79 over par.

The Fighting Illini won the tournament, carding a 917 (310, 316, 291). They finished 14 strokes of ahead of the second-place finisher, the Iowa Hawkeyes.

As for the rest of the Huskies, Connie Ellett finished tied for 17th place with a score of 235. Sydney Brickey posted a score of 239, tying for 26th place. Sam Coyne ended in a tie for 43d place with a 243. Hayley Mortensen carded a 251 to end tied for 59th place.
