Top five live TV falls

By Aymie Telinski

Seeing a celebrity fall on live TV will send me straight to YouTube.com to watch it over and over again.

Over the years, I have made a list of my favorite celebrity falls on live TV.

1. Jennifer Lawrence fell as she was walking up the stairs to accept her award for Best Actress. She handled the fall so gracefully by taking a moment to collect herself, then walking up and laughing at herself.

“You guys are just standing up because you feel bad that I fell,” she said as she began her acceptance speech.

2. “The Hills” star Whitney Port was going to model a dress on “Good Morning America.” She was walking down a set of stairs, tripped on the dress and slipped.

“People say that but I was like ‘what else am I supposed to do?!’ I mean, I did tear up,” Port said, according to Her.ie. “…When it happened I could feel my eyes getting a little bit blurry.”

3. On “The Tyra Banks Show” a zoologist brought out a porcupine. Banks was so afraid she climbed on top of her chair and tipped it over. As the chair is tipping back you can hear her scream.

4. In 2009, JLo was performing at the American Music Awards. While attempting to jump off one of her dancer’s backs, she loses her balance and slips. She acted like that was supposed to happen. According to PerezHilton.com, she told Ryan Seacrest on his morning radio show, “Did I trip a little bit? I don’t even remember. Yeah, I meant to do that. That was part of the choreography.”

5. The most cringe-worthy fall on my list is from the 2007 Miss Universe pageant. Miss USA Rachel Smith was walking across the stage in her evening gown when her foot caught her dress and she slipped. Smith twisted her ankle and she had the most horrified look on her face; it was probably the most embarrassing fall because everyone assumes that the contestants of a Miss Universe pageant are elegant and graceful, not total klutzes.

Tyra Banks always tells the girls on “America’s Next Top Model” to get up after they fall and act like the tumble was supposed to happen. The night of the Academy Awards, she tweeted about this.

“JLaw’s fall at the Oscar’s was fierce,” Banks tweeted “She got right back up and made a joke about it. I wish my ANTM girls would do same.”

I love when celebrities fall, but I love it even more when they can make fun of themselves after they have fallen.
