It’s okay to laugh at the death of the Twinkie

I’m skeptical about this whole fiasco about Hostess going out of business.

First of all, the doom of the company is ironic on its own—Hostess is going under because it doesn’t listen to the manpower of the company: the workers. I personally have never understood why big corporations wouldn’t be understanding toward their workers. Without workers, you have no products. Regardless, it’s silly that Hostess is claiming that’s the reason why they’re going out of business.

I’m skeptical, though, of the strategy behind them saying they’re going out of business and then Twinkie sales going through the roof in the following days. It was funny to see entire shelves of Hostess products gone—only America would care about its lard-center sweets to such a degree.

And then memes like this began appearing after people were “mourning the death” of the Twinkie:

This is really, really dark, and that’s exactly why I found it funny—I almost admire who came up with that concept, that a Twinkie kind of looks like a casket. I also greatly admire the preciseness of the use of Photoshop in these memes (do you know how hard it is to make it look that accurate?).

To make it better, the Twinkie name has been put up for auction. The Twinkie shall live on.

Oh, but the memes. It’s crazy, the amount of time it must have taken to create these. And it was all for the love of the crème-filled sponge cake snack.

That in itself is quite hilarious.
