John Lee Adams, 22, was arrested Tuesday on a warrant for robbery.

Allegedly, Adams was an accomplice to Anthony Phillips, 22, who was arrested for robbery Saturday, according to DeKalb police Lt. Jason Leverton.

A male and female were walking together on Greenbrier Road when Phillips allegedly stole the victim’s wallet and Adams allegedly beat the victim when he was on the ground.

“[Adams] fled to Chicago and was arrested for an unrelated incident, where the police there found that he was wanted on our warrant,” Leverton said.

Police believe Adams was the one who initially hit the victim in the face.

“The victim is unsure of who was kicking and hitting after that,” Leverton said.

Because Adams was arrested in Chicago, he will be interviewed there. He may be charged with assault at a later point, Leverton said.
