The following was taken directly from area police and fire department records, or from DeKalb County court records. Anyone mentioned is presumed innocent until proved guilty in a court of law.

Aug. 23, 2012

• At 11:07 a.m., police were dispatched to 1107 Normal Road apt. 4 for a report of theft. A complainant said sometime during the night an unknown suspect stole her son’s bike from the backyard. She provided a description. This case is inactive.

• At 9:13 a.m., a victim reported her daughter-in-law took five jewelry boxes from her apartment without permission. The suspect said she took the boxes to Iowa with her and won’t return them. This case is pending investigation.

• At 12:56 p.m., police responded to a call regarding criminal damage at 3170 Covered Bridge Lane. The complainant reported an unknown suspect keyed his car. It was unknown when or where the damage took place. This case is inactive.

• At 10:30 p.m. an officer initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle after it approached the officer without its headlights on. The driver, Tywana N. Bolton, 29, did not have a driver’s license or insurance information. The officer ran Bolton’s name through LEADS and realized she had a valid warrant for arrest. Bolton initially resisted arrest. She was arrested for DWLS, no headlights, no seatbelt and a FTA warrant.

• At 2:46 p.m., an officer responded to a report of a theft of mislaid property. The complainant said she lost her phone and later learned through an application on his missing phone that someone got a new number for it. The phone was recovered and given back to the complainant. This case is pending investigation.
