NIU men’s tennis’ Maksym Bartiuk was named the MAC Player of the Week after winning both of his singles and doubles matches against Ball State and Marquette.

Recovering from a shoulder injury that kept the junior out of the first singles spot, Bartiuk’s perfect weekend extended his singles record to 6-2, including a 5-0 mark at fourth singles.

“I think it shows that he continues to make progress coming back from his injury,” said NIU coach Patrick Fisher. “He deserves this with how hard he has worked to get back to playing at a decent level day in and day out.”

Bartiuk became the fourth Huskie to receive the honor this season. Dor Amir and Mikhail Titov won the award in consecutive weeks, March 8 and March 15, while Axel Lagerlof claimed the award for the weeks of Feb. 22 and March 21.
