The Bulls can afford to lose Boozer

By Matt Hopkinson

Until finals week is over, I don’t think I will have a bigger smile than I did the minute I found out the NBA is “tentatively” back.

Amid the images of all the glorious things Derrick Rose can do and the auditory hallucinations of Stacey King, I began to wonder about realistic basketball concerns.

The first thing that came to mind was Carlos Boozer, who still will be owed roughly $62 million, and with the lackluster splash he made last season, one can wonder how much further he can regress.

In my opinion, the more glaring need is a more legitimate perimeter threat than Keith Bogans.

I feel you can hand off the starting power forward position to Taj Gibson and get enough production – for much less money, mind you – and make up the necessary scoring by attempting to acquire a more able-bodied shooting guard.

Don’t get me wrong; I love the effort of Bogans, and I also love the Jannero Pargo’s of the world, but I love seeing the Bulls win even more.

We can all sit back and hear the emanations of “Gimme dat expletive!”

So send Boozer packing, admit that he was a consolation prize that failed to pan out and get yourself a shooter. And no, not Kyle Korver; I need a two-way player.
