NIU student charged with battery

NIU student Bryan C. Pikorz was charged with battery following an altercation near N. Annie Glidden Road and W. Hillcrest Drive Sunday.

Pikorz allegedly punched an unidentified victim in the face and knocked the person unconscious. Police responded to the intersection at approximately 1:52 a.m. and found the victim unconscious and bleeding from the head in front of Starbusters, 930 Pappas Drive.

DeKalb Police Lt. Gary Spangler said Pikorz has been charged with battery, but the case is pending further investigation and could potentially involve additional charges.

Pikorz was transported to DeKalb County Jail following his arrest and was released on bond.

Spangler said the victim was taken to Kishwaukee Community Hospital, 1 Kish Hospital Drive, Sunday. Further information on the victim’s condition was unavailable.
