Top 10 Huskies: #9 Marke Freeman

She might only stand at 5’5″, but Marke Freeman packs quite the punch.

In her final season as a Huskie, the point guard took the MAC by storm. Freeman ranked in the Top 10 in scoring (eighth, 15.9 ppg), rebounding (ninth, 7.4 rpg), steals (first, 2.5 spg), free-throw percentage (third, 86.7%), defensive rebounds (fifth, 6.2 drpg) and minutes (fifth, 36.3 mpg).

“I think I advanced my game in a lot of different areas,” Freeman said.

The Springfield, Ill. native helped the Huskies improve their overall and conference record, going from 10-19 and 4-12, to 13-17 and 7-9.

The All-MAC Second Team honorary joins former NIU players E.C. Hill and Stephanie Raymond as the only players in team history to average at least 14.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.0 steals per game in their a careers.

“My coaches, my teammates, the athletic department, the school, the environment, the fans; they’re definitely going to be missed,” Freeman said.
