RHA should be ashamed of holding event during Toni Keller’s vigil

By Letter Writer

Tuesday night’s “NBA watch party” sponsored by the Residence Hall Association was held at the same time as the vigil for Antinette “Toni” Keller. For the sheer fact that this event was not canceled floors me.

I cannot believe that the boobs at the RHA think it is acceptable to sponsor an event that conflicts so poorly with such a meaningful event. When contacted, one member of the RHA stated that it had to be held because, “We already purchased the food.” Really? That’s your “valid” reason? Why cannot they just cut their loss and have some respect for Toni (who was a resident and therefore technically a member of the RHA) and her family?

I think that the RHA has hit an all time moral low with this action. I feel that the RHA owes the NIU community an apology for their lack of sensitivity and immoral judgement.
