Prior to warm-ups against Eastern Michigan this weekend, the NIU women’s basketball team got a chance to watch former Huskies battle it out.

NIU hosted the annual women’s basketball alumni game on Saturday. Eleven players played in the classic Black vs. Red matchup.

The Black team featured E.C. Hill, Denise Robinson, Kim Moore, Tracy Burton and Stephanie Raymond while the Red team had Lisa Foss, Tammy Hinchee, Decole Austin, DeeDee Oregon, Kristen Brown and Denise Lipnisky-McCance.

It was a close match in the first half, but the Red squad was able to run away with a 73-60 victory due to an explosive second half.

Hinchee led all scorers with 34 points. The alumna made 15 trips to the free-throw line, completing 12 from the charity stripe. The Red team took 22 free throws, converting 17. Comparatively, the Black team only took four free throws, missing all of them.

The Black team held a 40-39 lead at halftime. The team used Raymond and Hill as its main scorers. Raymond scored 26 points in the game, including six three-point field goals, while Hill added 20 points and made four shots from behind the arc.
