Performers showcase talent on the stage

By Megan Rodriguez

From ballerinas to Rockettes, the show “Give My Regards to Broadway” will explore it all.

More than 50 NIU dancers, actors and faculty members will be part of the show, which opens Thursday.

“The show is not a specific play but a collection of dances and scenes from various Broadway musicals,” said Randy Newsom, associate professor of dance and coordinator of NIU’s dance department.

Among the variety of the show, there will be two numbers from “Grease,” one from “A Chorus Line” and the “Cell-Block Tango” from “Chicago,” Newsom said.

Other numbers include a melody from “Singing in the Rain,” “I Enjoy Being a Girl” from “Flower Drum Song,” “Shoeless Joe” from “Damn Yankees,” “La Princess Zenobia” ballet from “On Your Toes,” “Steam Heat” from “The Pajama Game” and the big tap number from “Anything Goes.”
