Super magician comes to DeKalb

They don’t call him Mike Super for nothing.

Super, a magician people have called a cross between David Blaine and David Copperfield, is coming to NIU as a part of Family Weekend.

Super will perform at 8 p.m. today at the Holmes Student Center’s Duke Ellington Ballroom.

Jaquita Logan, special events coordinator for Campus Activities Board, thought the show’s correspondence with Halloween worked out well.

“I think it is a great idea to have Mike at NIU, especially since he is coming on Halloween,” Logan said. “There will be children there, and I think it will be a good, fun atmosphere.”

Super, who began performing at the age of 6, has entertained for such celebrities as Regis Philbin, Joan Rivers and Paul Reiser, according to a press release.

“I know most people don’t believe in magic,” Logan said. “But I think he will be a good illusionist. He will probably do something most people won’t expect, or out of the norm.”

Logan said she encourages people to come because it is a family show.

“This show is not just for adults,” Logan said. “It is for everyone.”
