DeKALB – The Holmes Student Center will remain an early voting center for the upcoming consolidated elections in April, but will no longer be a registration center, DeKalb County Clerk Doug Johnson said.

“We used to do a registration center on Election Day, and we’ve pretty much eliminated registration since [the Illinois legislature] instituted registration at every polling place,” Johnson said. “A registration center isn’t needed since you can register at your polling place.”

The Holmes Student Center has never been a polling place, Johnson said.

Johnson said the schedule for the Holmes Student Center site has been reduced from where it was during the November elections, but said the schedule remains the same as it was during the previous consolidated election in 2019.

“Nothing’s really changed,” Johnson said. “These are the same rules we used prior to the November elections. In the 2019 consolidated election, we had 27 voters use the Holmes Student Center. We set our staffing and accommodations based on these previous numbers.”

Early voting will be available from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on March 30, March 31 and April 1 in the Holmes Student Center’s Gallery Lounge. All early voting sites are available to all DeKalb County voters, according to the county clerk and recorder website.
