Wrestlers pinned on ending note

Giving up 18 points before the match ever started didn’t help the NIU wrestling team one bit.

Winning two out of the seven remaining matches made things even worse as the Huskies dropped a 39-10 decision to Central Michigan Friday at Chick Evans Field House.

NIU ends the season with a 2-17 mark, while CMU moves up to 12-7.

T.C. Dantzler and Bill Walsh accounted for NIU’s only points.

Dantzler (13-3) overcame a 4-0 deficit to pin CMU’s Jason Wright at the 6:45 mark. Walsh (15-10-2) jumped out to an early 12-0 advantage and held on for a 14-4 victory.

Next up for the Huskies is the NCAA West Regional Championships at Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls this Saturday.
