DeKALB – The Mid-American Conference named two players from the NIU volleyball team as its MAC West Players of the Week on Monday.

Junior setter Ella Mihacevich earned MAC West Setter of the Week and junior middle blocker Charli Atiemo earned Defensive Player of the Week.

Mihacevich started all seven sets in past weekend matches against Miami University and Bowling Green. She dished out 82 assists during the weekend, bringing her current season total to 635. Mihacevich also had nine digs in both matches to go along with two aces.

Atiemo was also a contributor to the Huskies’ wins last weekend. The defensive anchor had 15 blocks, setting a new career high with nine blocks in a single game against Miami. Mihacevich’s block total is now 57 this season.

The duo has been incredible this season, both players have earned multiple MAC weekly honors. Mihacevich has three MAC Setter of the Week honors this season and Atiemo was named MAC West Defensive Player of the Week twice. The pair has helped  the Huskies earn a 13-4 record and 6-1 record against MAC opponents.

The Huskies’ next match will be at 6 p.m. Friday at home against a MAC West rival, Ball State University. Live statistics can be found through the NIU Huskies official website and the match can be watched through NIU All-Access.
