At DeKalb

December 7, 1989

Editor's note: Movies generally start their run on a Friday. Although every effort is made to ensure accuracy, last minute changes can occur after this guide goes to press. Call the theater or check their advertisements before going out for a show.

An Innocent Man—Tom Selleck stars in this drama about a man who is accused of a crime he didn't commit and as a result ends up in jail. (Playing at the Carroll).

Chocolat—This movie is a semi-autobiographical look at life in the last years of France's colonial rule of Cameroon. It is set in the late 1950's and explores the delicate balance of relationships in the home of district officer Marc Dalens and his wife, as seen through their daughter France's eyes.

Since Marc is frequently absent from his home, his role is adopted by Protee, the Dalens' house boy. This fact causes many problems throughout the movie, mainly his ultimate betrayal of France in the end. Although Chocolat is a bit slow, the atmosphere it creates is very potent and vivid. (Playing at the Egyptian Fri.-Sun.).

The Fabulous Baker Boys—This movie tells the story of two brothers, cocktail-lounge piano players, who find their lives disrupted when a beautiful woman joins their failing careers and unexpectedly saves their act. Starring Jeff and Beau Bridges and Michelle Pfeiffer. (Playing at the Campus).

Look Who's Talking—Bruce Willis is the voice of baby Mikey in this comedy about a single mother (Kirstie Alley) looking for a father for her son. Through Willis' lines, Mikey tries to "tell" his mother how he feels about the subject. (Playing at the Carroll).

Next of Kin—Patrick Swayze stars in this action movie about a man intent on getting even with the group that messed up his brother. (Playing at the Campus).

Sea of Love—Al Pacino and Ellen Barkin star in yet another movie about serial murders - this time by men who respond to personal ads. (Playing at the DeKalb).

Sex, Lies and Videotape-This prize-winning film is an examination of the the lifes of four contemporary adults defined by their sexuality. (Playing at the Campus).

Shocker—Master of horror Wes Craven (who introduced Freddy Krueger to the movies) brings forth a new and even more terrifying villian named Horace Pinker, who terrorizes everyone in his way. (Playing at the DeKalb).

Worth Winning—This comedy stars Mark Harmon as Philadelphia's most eligible bachelor. He has trouble trying to make a commitment, and when his friends go out and find him three beautiful women, his problems triple. (Playing at the Campus).
