One of the country’s leading chamber of music ensembles will be gracing the NIU campus with their musical presence.
The Avalon String Quartet is a Chicago based ensemble that holds a residency at NIU’s School of Music. The Quartet will be performing on Monday at 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Boutell Memorial Concert Hall.
Members of the Quartet include violinists Blaise Magnière, Richard O. Ryan Endowed Chair, Marie Wang, violist Anthony Devroye, and cellist Cheng-Hou Lee.
The quartet has played in major venues such as Carnegie Hall, Alice Tully Hall, the 92nd St Y, the Library of Congress and more. The Quartet is on tour to perform the complete Beethoven Cycle for Beethoven’s 250th anniversary celebration.
Tickets are $7 for the general public and non-NIU students. Seniors and staff will be able to purchase tickets at a discounted price of $5 and NIU students are offered free admission. Tickets can only be purchased online and will not be available at the door.
The performance will also be available to stream on NIU’s School of Music’s website.
