There is nothing more exciting for a gamer than finding out a game they’re hyped for is releasing soon or one they’re absolutely infatuated with is getting DLC in the near future.

Feeling your heart skip a beat as you read the news blowing up all over your timeline or seeing a trailer for a game or DLC you have been craving for the past few months or years makes you feel like a kid who just downed five cups of coffee.

Fortunately for gamers, the coming months will have an absolute abundance of games that may be new to some and familiar to others. Other already-released games will be receiving additional content updates further down the road as well.

Here are the highlights of the new games that will be released later this year:

“PERSONA 3: RELOAD”

This new installment into the Persona game series is a remake of the original “Persona 3” but with all of the goodies that came with “Persona 4” and “Persona 5.”

Its core story, characters and role-playing theme remain the same as the original; however, the new version includes many of the updated mechanics, graphics and features from previous Persona games.

“Persona 3: Reload” will be released Feb. 2 and will be available on PC (through Steam and the Microsoft Store), PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and the Xbox Series X.

“SUICIDE SQUAD: KILL THE JUSTICE LEAGUE”

Based on the DC comics, this free-roam open-world game follows a team of supervillains – Harley Quinn, Captain Boomerang, Deadshot and King Shark – who are tasked with stopping an alien invasion by Brainiac who intends to take over the world.

However, the kicker is the ones who are leading the invasion are the members of the Justice League – Superman, Batman, Flash and Green Lantern – who have been brainwashed.

The game takes place five years after the events in “Batman: Arkham Knight” and features other familiar characters such as Wonder Woman, Poison Ivy, The Penguin, The Riddler and more.

The game is set to release Feb. 2 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Steam. Early access will also be available to players who pre-ordered the game which will be available on Jan. 30.

“SILENT HILL 2”

It has been over two decades since the original released back in 2001, and fans of the first and second games can look forward to the remaster coming later this year.

The remake of “Silent Hill 2,” as of now, features the same characters and enemies as the previous version with improved mechanics and quality.

The game is set to be released sometime this year, but an exact date has yet to be announced.

“STAR WARS: OUTLAWS”

With the massive number of games coming from a galaxy far, far away, “Star Wars: Outlaws” marks one of the first “Star Wars” games that is not being developed by Electronic Arts and instead is by Ubisoft.

The story follows a new character named Kay Vess and her companion Nix as they enter the world of scoundrels.

Throughout the game, players will be able to choose to play as a lone smuggler or hired muscle for other criminals, and which characters they wish to help or hurt.

The game is set to be entirely open-world and is set during the period between “Empire Strikes Back” and “Return of the Jedi.”

It is currently scheduled to release in 2024 on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and PC; however, the exact release date has yet to be revealed.

These are a few of the already-released games that will be receiving additional content later this year:

“MARVEL’S SPIDER-MAN 2”

At the request of fans, Insomniac Games, the developers behind “Marvel’s Spider-Man 2,” are adding new content in an update scheduled to release in early 2024.

The content in question includes the standard “New Game +” which will allow players to play through the story again from the beginning with all of the skills, tech and outfits they unlocked in a previous playthrough of the game.

Insomniac will also be adding the ability to change the time of day, the ability to change the color of the tendrils used by Peter’s Symbiote Suit from white to black and additional outfits for both Spider-Men.

“FINAL FANTASY XIV: DAWNTRAIL”

This DLC will be introducing new levels, bosses and challenges to the standard story as well as some familiar friends and enemies.

There will also be new hunts, sidequests and other things to do or places to explore after the update has been released. The level cap of your characters has also been raised from level 90 to 100, and the game’s visuals will be getting an overhaul for better animations.

The update is set to release in the summer of 2024 with no specific release date.

“POPPY’S PLAYTIME – CHAPTER 3: DEEP SLEEP”

With the success of the indie game so far, this new chapter will expand upon where the story left off.

Thanks to the previous chapter of the game, players were left with more questions than ever before and the trailer which was dropped a few months ago, revealing the new monster, only increased anticipation.

The next chapter is set to release somewhere in 2024, but there is no specific release date.

“ELDEN RING: SHADOWS OF THE ERDTREE”

The exact release date remains unknown as of now, and FromSoftware, the developers behind the game, have kept a tight lid on any information about the content in the DLC.

With how long the developers have been working on the DLC, it will only add to the game’s massive open world and enormous amount of content.

The general release for the DLC has been confirmed to be in 2024.
