Voter registration deadline nearing fast

Time is running out for DeKalb residents to register to vote in the next election.

Monday, March 4, is the last day for those over 18 to register to vote or update the addresses on their voter registration cards before the April 2 Consolidated Election.

Voters planning to register need to bring two forms of identification, at least one of which includes their name and their current address, said Nancy Marchiando, DeKalb elections clerk.

Sharon L. Holmes, DeKalb County Clerk, has announced that even though the county offices will be closed on March 4 in observance of Casimir Pulaski’s birthday, her Sycamore office will remain open to accept voter registration.

The office at 110 East Sycamore Street will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Voters may also register at the local DeKalb banks. American National Bank, 810 W. Lincoln, and First National Bank, 141 W. Lincoln are registering during regular lobby hours: today from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., tomorrow from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon.

First American Bank of DeKalb, 363 E. Lincoln, is open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday.

The Student Association office, second floor of Holmes Student Center and University Resources for Latinos, 515 Garden Road, are also registering voters from 8 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Anyone going to University Resources for Latinos is asked to talk with Joni Burke.

Voters may also register to vote at the offices of city and village clerks, the DeKalb Public Library and the Ben Gordon Mental Health Center during regular business hours.
