NIU’s American Marketing Association’s second annual walk-a-thon ended up to be a real success, according to the AMA public relations director.

“We had over 95 people walk this year and raised approximately $6,500,” said Mary Price, public relations director.

The walk-a-thon made twice as much as last year because there was more campus participation, more than 32 organizations participated, Price said. She said she’d like to thank everyone involved in helping with the walk-a-thon’s success.

Money raised from the walk-a-thon will go to the Starlight Foundation, which tries to make some of the wishes of seriously ill children ages 2 to 18 come true.

“The money is for the Chicago region, but the wishes will go to children in DeKalb,” she said.

Price said people who haven’t fulfilled their donation pledges yet, may contact her at 748-4027.
