Competing at the Mid-American Conference Indoor Track & Field Championship Sunday, NIU junior Arianna Calloway claimed victory in high jump after clearing 1.75 meters on her first attempt.
As a team, the Huskies came in 13th place with just 15 points. Kent State University took the team title, finishing with 104 points.
Calloway is the first Huskie in program history to win the title for high jump at the MAC Indoor Championships. Calloway previously took first in the high jump at the Bill Bergan Classic and the Fighting Illini Challenge earlier in the season, but hit a new season best over the weekend.
Sophomore Jasmijn Raes came in fourth place for high jump, clearing 1.72 meters on her first attempt. The mark tied her season best, which she set at the Meyo Invitational at Notre Dame.
Senior Samira Rosenfeld took fourth place in the pentathlon 800-meter run, with a time of 2:30.15, her new personal best. Junior Kaiya Key also ran a new personal best time of 2:54.43.
Rosenfeld also took eighth place in both the pentathlon high jump, clearing 1.59 meters, and the pentathlon long jump, at 5.27 meters.
Multiple other Huskies either earned a new season best or tied their previous best. Senior Aniya Barton tied her personal best in triple jump with an 11.79 meter on her third attempt, while freshman Amelie Ojeda earned a new personal best 17:23.06 in the 5,000-meter run.
