Competing at the Texas Relays and Bobcat Invitational over the weekend, NIU track and field secured eight top-10 finishes.
TEXAS RELAYS
Sophomore Jasmijn Raes earned a first-place finish on Friday in Austin,Texas, after she cleared the mark of 1.72 meters on her second attempt.
Junior Arianna Calloway also secured a top-10 finish, placing eighth after clearing 1.60 meters on her second attempt
In the 5000-meter run, freshman Amelie Ojeda finished in ninth place while also setting a new personal record of 17:10.48, the sixth best time in NIU history.
Graduate student Sarah Maggio finished in eighth place in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 11:01.47
In javelin, sophomore G’Nea Pitt secured a sixth-place finish after recording 38.39 meter throw, fifth all time at NIU.
BOBCAT INVATATIONAL
At the Bobcat Invitational, sophomore Tiffany Colin secured a sixth-place finish after recording a time of 59.96 in the 400-meter dash.
In the high jump, Calloway finished in sixth place, a two spot improvement from her performance at the Texas Relays, clearing 1.66 meters on her second attempt.
Sophomore Precious Umukoro took ninth place in the long jump after recording a jump of 6.03 meters on her first attempt.
This puts Umukoro in fourth place in NIU history, as well as ranking top-75 in the nation for the spring season.
