NIU Track and Field competed at the Illini Deca-Jam in Champaign on Saturday, earning multiple second-place finishes.
Freshman Precious Akinsanya finished second in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.04.
With times of 14.21 and 14.32, respectively, freshman Miashlie Jean and sophomore Brooke Jordan, took second and third place in the 100-meter hurdles.
In the 200-meter dash, sophomore Esther Momalife placed third with a time of 24.85. Coming in fifth was graduate student Roshell Rowe with a personal best time of 25.10.
Rowe also took third place in the 400-meter run with a time of 57.05. Just behind her in fourth place was graduate student Natasha Chetty with a time of 57.34.
Jean had another second-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:05.79.
Graduate student Sarah Maggio and freshman Ariel Hernandez came in fifth and sixth place in the 5,000-meter run, respectively, with Hernandez running a season best 18:37.24.Â
In the 4×100-meter relay, NIU took both second and third. Akinsanya, Chetty, Tiffany Colin, and Stella Oyebode came in second place with a time of 46.28.Â
Faith Rouse, Jean, Mariah Gonzalez, and Samira Rosenfeld came in third, running a time of 48.50.
Senior Aniya Barton brought in a fourth-place finish in triple jump, with a distance of 11.61 meters, a season best.Â
