It’s not just a movie. It’s not just a stand-up comedian. It’s both. It also happens to be the Campus Activities Board’s latest effort—”House Party with Martin Lawrence.”

“House Party with Martin Lawrence” is a combination show set up by CAB. It will begin Wednesday with the showing of “House Party,” starring the rappers Kid ‘n’ Play. Following the movie, Lawrence will perform his stand-up comedy routine.

Lawrence appeared in “House Party” as well as in Spike Lee’s “Do the Right Thing.” He has played comedy clubs across the country from Igby’s in Los Angeles to Wise Guys in New York.

Lawrence has also been featured on national television shows such as “Comic Strip Live,” “Yo! MTV Laffs” and “It’s Showtime at the Apollo.”

“I saw a clip of him at UIC and he was hilarious,” said Jennifer Spaulding, CAB special events coordinator. “I’m hoping we get a diverse audience. I hope they come out; it’s a unique program,” she said.

The program will begin at 7 p.m. in the Holmes Student Center Sandburg Auditorium and admission is free. Lawrence’s performance will begin at 9 p.m.
