Henley considers candidates

Barbara Henley said she has not decided who she wants to hire to fill the vacant position of NIU’s Associate Vice President of Student Affairs.

Henley said she has not finished reference checks on the four candidates. NIU’s Office of Affirmative Action must then approve the choice before the selected person is notified, she said.

Henley said she will announce who will get the job after the chosen candidate accepts the position.

The four candidates being considered for the job are: Donald Buckner, NIU’s Director of Student Housing Services; Michael Cuyjet, University of Maryland’s Director of Campus Activities; Sharon Policello, Ithaca College’s Director of Campus Activities and Orientation; and Thomas Risch, Southeast Missouri State University’s Vice President for Student Services.

Henley accepted applications from all over the nation until a June 22 deadline. A search committee appointed by Henley chose four candidates from among these applications.

The search committee and Henley interviewed the candidates last July in day-long sessions. The interviews ended July 24.
