Burzynski outlines campaign platform

Community activism and political education are two prime concerns in the campaign for the Republican state representative candidate in the 76th District.

“I feel very good about the support I get from individuals in business,” Brad Burzynski said.

Burzynski said he was pleased with the Republican primary outcome last month and credits his success to good organization the support of more than 100 volunteers.

He also said grassroots campaigning, word-of-mouth networking, door-to-door canvassing and telemarketing were some of the tools he used to win the primary. He said he will continue to educate the public on his campaign.

Campaign issues include funding for education, environmental concerns, agriculture and drug free youth, Burzynski said.

He said he will support a drug bill that has incentives for children to remain drug free through scholarship, job preferences and a stronger crackdown on people convicted of dealing drugs.

He said the Democratic candidate, Bob Tisch, also brings in new enthusiasm for the issues.

However, Burzynski has a different position than Tisch on the issue of abortion. “I think that we’ve sacrificed our future generations for the sake of convenience,” he said.

He said he will run a lean, mean campaign with the available funding but said he did not know how much money that would be.

Burzynski said he definitely wants the support of the DeKalb County Republican Party and other Republican groups in the district. “The state party will be very supportive of my candidacy” because of his Springfield contacts, he said.
