Chairman explains duties

By a unanimous vote of DeKalb Republican Committee members, the Republican county chairman was elected to a second two-year term last spring.

“I feel we should all make an attempt to be involved in government because it influences our daily lives,” said Republican Chairman George Beasley.

Beasley, a State Farm Insurance agent in Sycamore, said he worked with the party to meet important goals over the past three years.

Promoting DeKalb County development, working with Republican state officials and recruiting a strong local republican ticket are three goals Beasley said he accomplished as chairman.

DeKalb County Treasurer Charlotte Sundly, an active Republican, said, “I think George has done a fine job.”

Sundly said Beasley encouraged candidates to run for office in DeKalb. “He’s working very hard to unite the party,” she said.

Beasley said DeKalb Republicans will have an impact in this year’s election. “DeKalb County plays a big part in seeing these people get elected,” he said.

DeKalb Republicans must work hard to elect a Republican governor and change the balance of power in the Illinois legislature, Beasley said.

He said he supports Republican candidates Brad Burzinski for the house and his wife Nancy Beasley for the senate.

They “will give DeKalb strong representation in state government,” Beasley said.

NIU College Republican President Chris Hudders said, “I can say that George has done nothing but help the CR’s this year.”

Hudders said the Republican party in DeKalb has an opportunity to grow dramatically with recent democrat resignations, such as DeKalb County Clerk Terry Desmond and County Democrat Chairman Bill Brady.
