Stadium Club: a local tavern and restaurant

By Gina Quilici

When choosing a restaurant to dine at it is important to find a place that is comfortable, has good food, hires a great staff and gives you an atmosphere that is easy to talk in with no hassles. That may sound like a pretty tall order. However, The Stadium Club, 1311 W. Lincoln Hwy., encorporates all of the above qualifications plus more.

Stadium Club owner Bernie Stefani compares his establishment to that of the Cheers establishment on the popular television show. He calls the Stadium Club a combination of a “big neighborhood tavern and restaurant.”

Stefani said that his crowd is a very diverse group of people from all walks of life. He added that The Stadium Club also plays host to a very consistant group of regulars, much like the TV show.

Stadium Club has been in business for nearly 3 1/2 years and already enjoys the fame that its menu items have brought. Stefani said that he has many customers who regularly drive all the way from Rockford and the suburbs to eat Stadium Club pizza.

In addition to the ever popular pizza, The Stadium Club offers BBQ ribs, seafood, hamburgers, and all types of sandwiches as well as appetizers. Stefani describes his menu as “good food and a very good price.”

Some attractive features about The Stadium Club are the fact that they play no loud music so it is easy to converse without having to yell. The dining area is also very large enabling big groups of people to sit together without having to seperate them into smaller numbers. Smaller groups also find the arrangement cozy, as booths are available.

The decor of The Stadium Club is very appealing and always gives the customer something new to look at. The walls are covered with sports memorabilia containing pieces of sports history from DeKalb as well as NIU. With the cold months setting in patrons will find the fireplace lit, adding an additional glow of warmth and comfort to the establishment.

The Stadium Club has two television screens that show the current sporting events. In addition, video games, a pool table and basketball hoop are present.

The Stadium Club is open seven days a week 11 a.m.- 1 a.m.. One fact that is not commonly known is that The Stadium Club DOES have delivery from 4 p.m.- 1 a.m. daily. For additional information or delivery call The Stadium Club at 758-1981.
