NIU’s College of Business will continue to use Chicago’s western suburbs for its extended master of business administration programs through 1991 at a cost of more than $210,000.

According to a report from Board of Regents Chancellor Roderick Groves, the college will continue its rental arrangement with AT&T for the Hickory Ridge facility in Lisle, Ill. Hewlett-Packard in Naperville, Ill., remains a training facility for the MBA program and Motorola in Schaumburg, Ill., maintains a training facility for the program. MBA courses also are available on NIU’s DeKalb campus.

The College of Business’ request to continue the off-campus courses was approved at last week’s Regents meeting. The Board governs NIU, Illinois State University at Normal and Sangamon State University at Springfield.

Six MBA courses are currently held at Hewlett-Packard, and 12 courses are held at Motorola. Average enrollment in the classes is 22 at both sites, which represents a 15 percent enrollment increase from fall 1988.

The number of applications for night classes from full-time employees has risen 15 percent since the fall of 1988.

Nine classes have been scheduled at Hewlett-Packard and 12 at Motorola for spring, 1990. The tuition per three-hour credit course for the MBA program at the two companies is $217.50.

There are 27 students in the first year of the MBA program at AT&T. There are also 27 students in the second-year class. The cost of tuition is $8,000 per year and is usually financed by the employer. The cost of the program includes room rental and meals at the companies.
