Eduardo’s famous for its chimichangas

By Gina Quilici

The mariachi band music plays softly in the backround, and the mouth watering aroma of chimichangas wafts through the kitchen doors.

Perhaps most famous for its chimichangas, Eduardo’s, 214 E. Lincoln Hwy., has been offering DeKalb its tantalizing Mexican menu since 1983.

In addition to a scrumptious array of Mexican dishes, Eduardo’s serves steaks, hamburgers and other American dishes for those who might not be in the mood for Mexican food.

According to Jim Balli, Eduardo’s manager, the most unique thing about Eduardo’s is they serve the “most authentic Mexican food.”

Eduardo’s uses absolutely “no frozen or processed food.” Balli added, “Everything we serve is made fresh.”

Wonderful cuisine is not all that one can find on Eduardo’s premise. Below the restaurant lies Eduardo’s equally famous counterpart The Flamingo Lounge.

The Flamingo Lounge attracts many college students as well as sports fans, as the lounge regularly airs the current sporting events on their televisions.

Tuesday is a very special night at The Flamingo Lounge, and it is rightly named “Fiesta Night.”

Every Tuesday, Fiesta Night, offers a giant appetizer bar for only $1. The appetizer bar gives the lounge’s patrons an opportunity to sample some of the wonderful food served upstairs at Eduardo’s.

In addition to appetizers, The Flamingo Lounge still offers the same great Magaritas that have won the hearts of many people here in DeKalb. The Magaritas come in a variety of flavors and can be purchased by the glass or by the pitcher.

If you’ve really got a taste for some authentic Mexican food, and you want to make an exciting night of it, Eduardo’s is the answer you’re looking for.
