NIU will receive $113 million if vote passes

The Illinois Board of Higher Education will vote Tuesday to approve Gov. James Thompson’s fiscal year 1990 higher education budget.

The governor’s allocations fall 60 percent below the board’s recommendations to the state.

The budget, an 8.1 increase from the FY89 budget, totals $1,462.1 million

In the allocation of the governor’s budget, NIU will receive about $113 million. 6.6 percent more than it was allotted in FY89.

NIU’s budget is larger than budgets at Illinois State University and Sangamon State University-the other Regency schools.
