Escalator problem

There is a definite problem in the library with the escalator system. One question to ask is why did we really need it in the first place? If it’s going to break down like that, cost a lot of money to fix, and confuse people on which side to use to go up or down, then why do we need it? The solution perhaps would be to find a buyer for the system and dismantle it.

The proceeds from the sale could go to building stairs where the escalators once were. It might cost more initially but perhaps in the long run it will be more cost-effective because the only thing that can go wrong with the stairs is that the concrete breaks, which is highly unlikely. Some might complain about walking the stairs but there is an elevator and walking those stairs is good exercise.
