Unofficial deletions returned to bylaws

Several committees unofficially deleted from the Student Association Bylaws have been put back in for further revision during the SA Internal Affairs Committee meeting Wednesday night.

SA Vice President Cam Davis said the committee will discuss bylaws involving the Student Committee on Political Education, the Personnel Committee, the International Relations Committee, the SA Curator and Visual Arts Committee, the Student Committee on Financial Aid and the Programming and Activities Committee.

These committees were unofficially deleted from the SA bylaws by the former SA Vice President Michele Begovich last year, and Davis said he had to “put back in what was taken out.”

He said he included any SA approved changes made in those bylaws over the past two years.

Davis said the Personnel Committee “needs to be changed drastically” since he cannot recall it being active since he has been involved in the SA.

The bylaws state the Internal Affairs Committee regulates efficiency and maintains communication with all internal bodies of the student government.

Davis said the financial and election categories “are the two major sections of bylaws,” and subcommittees were formed to review those sections.

The elections category includes voter eligibility, voting districts, campaigns, petitions for candidate election and general and election day restrictions.

The financial category includes organization budgets, financial aid advising and summer activity fees.

Committee member Anne Rapp said “a lot of things have changed” since the last time the bylaws were reviewed.
