Northern Illinois University may seem like a pretty boring place because it is in the middle of nowhere, but there is a lot more to do than you think.

During the fall semester, there are tailgate parties at the Northern Illinois University home football games. The games mainly occur on fridays or saturdays, so take the time grab some of your friends and go and support our Huskies!

The Holmes Student Center may just seem like what its called: a student center where students gather to study. However, hidden down in the basement of this building is the Huskie Den. When I went to the Huskie Den, I was astonished at what I saw: pool tables, bowling and even arcade games!

If you’re an incoming freshman and want things to do on campus to keep you busy, there’s always Greek life. Our Greek life is amazing, because there will always be something to do!

Just like Greek life, there are clubs. You can find a list of them online and through flyers posted on campus. This is a great way to make friends and keep up with what your extracurricular interests.

During my freshman year I tried all of these things. If you really want to keep busy on campus, think outside of the box. Most things will not fall in your lap; they require for you to look for them!
