House Cafe presents the third Krazed Showcase

By Ginger Simons

In the third installment of the House Cafe’s Krazed Showcase shows, headliner ADHD and ten other artists are taking the stage and bringing contemporary rap and hip hop sounds to DeKalb.

“Krazed Showcase III Presents ADHD” will begin at 6:30 p.m. July 5 at the House Cafe, 263 E Lincoln Highway. It is an all-ages show and tickets are $8.

Among the artists in the show’s lineup is DeKalb native Sean Wilcox, better known by his stage name NeverclearX. He began rapping in high school and has since created a name for himself with his unique take on the genre.

“I went from making music on a webcam microphone to now hosting my own shows, like the Krazed Showcase, booking all genres of music and performing on stages like The Rave in Milwaukee and Subterranean in Chicago,” Wilcox said. “I’ve done so much more than I ever imagined I would.”

Wilcox says his personal interests and family life play a large role in the creation of his music. He describes his personal style as “nerdy dad rap,” and takes musical influence from a wide array of artists like Tech N9ne, Twenty One Pilots, Tyler The Creator and G-Eazy.

“I rap about my family and incorporate my love for comic books, superheroes, and stuff like that all the time,” Wilcox said. “I just like to be myself.”

When he is on stage performing, his main goal is to have a good time and feel the rush of vocalizing in front of a crowd.

“I hate talking in front of people, but I can rap any day and time,” Wilcox said. “The aftermath to is a great feeling too, having silenced some of the doubters and meeting new people who enjoyed the music.”

NeverclearX’s music can be found on neverclearX.bandcamp.com, and his mixtapes can also be found on YouTube and Soundcloud. His upcoming album “Panels” features the single “Mana,” and is a debut album for the artist.
