DeKALB — DeKalb Police Department officials are investigating a shooting at the 800 block of N. Annie Glidden Road that resulted in one victim being hospitalized.

The shots were reported to have been fired at about 7:45 p.m. Tuesday. A 28-year-old female was shot in the leg and taken to Kishwaukee Hospital, 1 Kish Hospital Drive, according to a Nov. 1 DeKalb Police Department press release. The victim was treated and later released.

“An intense investigation into this and other recent gun violence cases is ongoing, the safety of our community is of the utmost importance,” according to the press release.

The suspects fled the area on foot heading south. The three were described by witnesses as a dark-skinned male wearing a red hooded sweatshirt, a light-skinned black male wearing a black jacket and hat and a dark-skinned male wearing a black jacket.

To address this incident and others involving guns, DeKalb Police Department officials will be hosting a public forum 5 p.m. Monday in the DeKalb Police Department Community Room, 700 W. Lincoln Highway.

“We ask that, as a community, we work together in a unified manner to implement a focused and effective approach to address this vital concern,” said DeKalb Police Chief Gene Lowery in the press release.
