Popeyes draws crowd in DeKalb

By Northern Star staff

DeKALB – Popeyes is ready to serve Louisiana chicken to DeKalb residents.

Cars were snaked around the restaurant and spilled onto Lincoln Highway Oct. 19 as customers waited in the drive-thru line days after their grand opening.

“This is my first time here,” said Tom Foss, 32 Somonauk resident. “I drove past a few times but saw the line. I was waiting for the hype to die down.”

The already-popular restaurant is open 10:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. every day.

“I’ve been in DeKalb for three years and I was starting to get sick of all the places [to eat],” said Brian Sawyer, junior political science major.

The restaurant, 1127 W. Lincoln Highway, stands next to the closed KFC and Long John Silver’s.
