3 things to do this weekend: Sept. 16 to 18

By Jay Ibarra

Fill the weekend agenda with fun things to do around NIU and DeKalb County. Here are 3 things you can do this weekend:

Go see The Dixie Swim Club

Stage Coach Player Theatre, 126 S. Fifth St., opened their comedic show about Southern women and long-time friendship last night and will be running the show this weekend and next.

This is a fun show for all audiences and features NIU alumni.

Times for this show are Sept. 16 to 17 and Sept. 23 to 24 at 7:30 p.m. and Sept. 18 and Sept. 25 at 2 p.m.

Go to the home football game

The Huskies have their home opener 2:30 p.m. tomorrow against San Diego State University (2-0) and students get in for free with a valid OneCard.

Fans can tailgate in the yard, 1200 Stadium Dr. N., in front of the stadium before the game. The “Yard Party” will start two and a half hours prior to kickoff and will close 30 minutes prior to kickoff, according to niuhuskies.com. There will be live music, food and face painting for kids. Red Woody is headlining tomorrow at 11 a.m.

Attend a $2 movie

Sycamore Theatre has $2 movies going until Thursday. The movies are “The Secret Life of Pets,” “Ghostbusters” and “The Legend of Tarzan.”

This is a good opportunity to get out of the house on a small amount of money.
