Today is the last day to register to vote in the Illinois primary election.

In order to register, voters must:

 • Be a U.S. citizen

 • Be 18 on or before Election Day in November

 • Be living in their election precinct at least 30 days before the election

 • Not be convicted and in jail

 • Not claim the right to vote anywhere else

To register:

• Go to bit.ly/1bFK5A3 to see if you are registered to vote

 Go to ova.elections.il.gov to register

Applicants will answer whether or not they have a driver’s license. If they have one, they are asked to provide their driver’s license or ID number, date the license was issued, the last four digits of their social security number and their date of birth.

If the applicant does not have a driver’s license, they are asked to print out the application when they are finished, sign it and mail it to their election authority with proper identification. Acceptable forms of identification include the last four digits of their social security number and a valid driver’s license or state ID card.

Applicants are asked about their citizenship status, their purpose in registering and whether they will require assistance at the polls or not.
