DeKalb Police have charged two men in relation to the Tuesday night shooting death of a DeKalb man.

Christopher Gerken, 25, of Sycamore, and Trevor Motsinger, 25, of DeKalb, face charges of first a degree murder. Motsinger also faces charges of obstruction of justice and unlawful possession of controlled substances.

Police responded to a shooting at 10:02 p.m. Tuesday and found a man with a gunshot wound to the chest at 817 Pleasant St., according to a DeKalb Police Department news release. Motsinger told police he had set up a drug deal between the victim, Matthew Clark, 23, and Gerken, who had planned to rob Clark because of a previous deal Gerken was “upset over,” according to DeKalb police.

Gerken then shot the victim in the chest and fled, according to DeKalb police. Gerken was arrested Wednesday in Elburn after leading police on a chase, according to DeKalb police.
