Huskie Alternative Breaks to offer eight volunteer trips

Huskie Alternative Breaks will offer eight trips that allow college students to engage in volunteer work and learn about social issues throughout the 2015-16 academic year.

Huskie Alternative Breaks will focus on education, female youth empowerment, civil rights and sustainable living this year, according to an NIU marketing and communications news release. The trips will occur during the winter, spring and May breaks.

Students can attend informational meetings in the Campus Life Building, Room 100 for more information, such as costs, fundraising and requirements. Meetings will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, 11 a.m. Sept. 15 and 5 p.m. Sept. 24.

Applications will be available online at bit.ly/1KCUihJ or at the front desk of the Student Involvement & Leadership Development office in the Campus Life Building, room 150. Applications are due by Oct. 9.
