More than 1,800 cyclists will ride to raise money for multiple sclerosis research Saturday and Sunday at DeKalb’s 34th annual Tour De Farms.

The event will gather cyclists of all skill levels from across Illinois to raise up to $1.6 million for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, according to a National Multiple Sclerosis Society news release. Second ward Alderman Bill Finucane will lead an opening ceremony at 7 a.m. Saturday at the Convocation Center.

A kids’s ride will take place at 3:30 p.m. Saturday and a second round of adult riding will start at 7 a.m. Sunday at the Convocation Center. Award ceremonies will begin at 5 p.m. on both days.

Individuals and teams will ride on 15 to 125 mile courses in DeKalb throughout both days. The event raised $1.2 million as of Friday.
