Fire Dept. to give free smoke alarms

By Northern Star Staff

The DeKalb Fire Department is teaming up with the nonprofit National Fire Protection Association during Fire Prevention Week to remind locals about the importance of smoke alarms.

Fire Prevention Week, which ends Saturday, reminds residents to have their fire alarms working and to have them tested monthly.

The Office of the State Fire Marshal has provided the DeKalb Fire Department with smoke detectors for distribution. Anyone in need of a working smoke detector can contact the DeKalb Fire Department at 815-748-8460 and one will be provided for free.
