Student Association seeks Senate Clerk

By Northern Star Staff

Student Association Senate clerk applications are due 4 p.m. today.

The clerk maintains Senate records, works directly with the SA Senate speaker and works with the SA vice president to update governing documents, according to SA Bylaws,

Former SA Senate Clerk Ryan Burke resigned due to a heavy course load after switching his major from biology to actuarial science, SA Senate Speaker Dillon Domke said. Burke has agreed to help and train his successor.

“I’m looking for someone … [who] does more work than asked,” Domke said, adding that someone proficient in Microsoft Office and typing would be qualified, as recording the SA Senate meetings’ minutes is a major job for the clerk.

Students interested in applying for the job may pick up an application at the SA Office in the Campus Life Building, Room 180, or online at niu.edu/sa.

The position is paid and the clerk will work 10-15 hours a week, Domke said.

Domke said he hopes to have the vacant position filled by Friday, before SA Senate’s meeting at 6 p.m. Sunday in the Holmes Student Center, Sky Room.
