DeKalb Liquor Laws

By Jack Baudoin

The DeKalb City Council recently held a meeting in regards to lowering the entrance age of bars in the area. Three proposals were put into place by City Manager Bill Nicklas. These proposals include allowing lowering the entrance age of bars with dine-in restaurant areas from 21 to 19, allowing patrons to bring their own beverages with food purchases, and allowing fitness facilities to serve alcohol. Members of the city council are supportive of these proposals. By putting these proposals into place, there will be an increase in sales that will allow businesses to stay open. In addition to this, it will allow underage students a new opportunity to have fun on the weekends.
