Three people have been taken into custody for their alleged role in a Sunday morning shooting incident.

The shooting, which left no one injured, occurred at about 2:29 a.m. in the 700 block of Regent Drive. Officers in the area heard three to four shots and secured the scene, whereupon a man ran from Illinois State Police into a Regent Drive residence. Officers chased the man and recovered a 9 mm Glock inside the residence.

The people inside the apartment were detained and interviewed. Police learned the occupants of the apartment had a party; a group tried to enter the party but was not allowed access. Bottles were thrown at the building and a fight occurred. A person visiting the apartment fired a gun during the fight.

DeKalb Police Chief Gene Lowery said there were “no known injuries at present.”

Javon A. Bright, 18, of University Park, was charged with reckless discharge of a firearm and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon. Kmet A. Baxter, 20, of Chicago, was charged with obstructing justice. Jakeem J. Moore, 18, of DeKalb, was charged with obstructing justice and possession of firearm without a FOID.

In another incident, which Lowery said is believed to be unrelated, police recovered a gun near Jimmy John’s, 850 Pappas Drive. Tracy D. Jamason, 21, of Chicago, allegedly attempted to run from police. When apprehended, police said Jamason was found to have a loaded .357 caliber Springfield Armory. He was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm as felon, aggravated unlawful use of weapon and resisting a peace officer.
