‘Counselor’ cures action itch, ‘Grandpa’ still lives

“The Counselor”

Ridley Scott’s “The Counselor” shows promise despite the cliche plot. A-list actors Michael Fassbender, Brad Pitt, Penelope Cruz and Cameron Diaz will grasp the audience’s attention.

The film is about a greedy lawyer, Fassbender, who only cares about his wife but gets involved with the wrong people and drug trafficking.

Fassbender’s character, known as the Counselor, gets blamed for losing a shipment worth $20 million. The counselor must act quickly as many people are after him. After “X-Men: First Class,” Fassbender’s acting gets better every movie and his acting chops make this movie a need-to-see.

This crime drama may be No. 1 at the box office this weekend. Scott is known for movies like “Blade Runner,” the Alien series and “Black Hawk Down.” “The Counselor” includes a combination of talented actors and a great director, and will definitely be worth checking out.

“Bad Grandpa”

Johnny Knoxville’s aging Irving Zisman refuses to die in his return in “Bad Grandpa.”

The crazy grandpa goes around town and causes trouble. While wearing clothes and makeup, Knoxville plays a convincing grandfather. Accompanying him is Jackson Nicoll as grandson Billy.

Although the stunts from previous “Jackass” movies entertained a specific demographic, the series is still loved by many. “Bad Grandpa” will illustrate painful stunts, embarrassing fails and the hilarious reactions of pedestrians. The trailer claims the reactions of people are real, but that seems doubtful. They might just be actors told to look surprised.

“Bad Grandpa” does not seem to offer anything new except for a fresh perspective of Billy. This movie isn’t a big deal you were a fan of the previous movies.
