Spring trends to watch

By Kayla Cameron

Spring, believe it or not, is here, and as we are all trying to make that transition from sweatpants and sweatshirts into shorts and tank tops, there is always the pesky weather that keeps us guessing.

In spring, you’re never quite sure whether to wear your flip-flops or keep them in the closet for another few weeks. But, I’ve got a list of spring essentials that could make the transition a little less confusing.

Umbrella: With the weather switching back and forth so fast (it could give a person whiplash) from warm to cold, it’s the perfect recipe for rain and thunderstorms. Purchase a cute umbrella that has some spring print like flowers or cute pastel colors. Even when it’s not so great outside it’s that little bit of sunshine to remind you that summer is only a few months away.

Sunglasses: Sunglasses are a yearround essential to protect your eyes from harmful UV rays; since the weather is getting nicer and people tend to be outside in the sun more, eye protection is even more important. To add spring flare you could buy some fun and colorful sunglasses. Try a blue-checkered print to give your glasses a spring picnic feel or try some cute polka dots for a fun, flirty pin-up girl feel.

Flats: With the strange weather and never being able to decide what shoes to wear, flats or cloth shoes are the perfect in between choice. They don’t cover your entire foot but they do make sure to give your toes some warmth and protection. The prints and colors are endless in flats, so choosing one for your style or for spring isn’t a hard task.

Hats: Hats aren’t always for keeping your head warm in winter–they can also be used to add some style. Buying a Jason Mraz-inspired fedora, a straw wide-brimmed sun hat or a pleated straw boiler all scream style, fun and spring. Having a hat also protects you on warm days from getting too hot or getting those harmful rays that cause sunburn. People often forget you can easily burn your scalp.

Sundresses: Sundresses are the staple item for spring. They are perfect for days out at the park or hanging at the beach. These dresses come in any and all things spring style, from horizontal blue and white sailor stripes to pastel yellows, purples and pinks. You can even wear these dresses when the weather isn’t so warm. Pairing the dress with a cute solid color cardigan or some colored tights makes it fashionable for even the coldest weather.
