Environmental Commission accepting nominations for P.R.I.D.E. award

The Citizen Environmental Commission is now accepting nominations for the 2012 P.R.I.D.E. Award, according to a Citizens Environmental Commission news release.

The People Responsible for Improving DeKalb’s Environment (P.R.I.D.E.) Award recognizes local residents, businesses or other entities that significantly improved the quality of the physical environment in DeKalb through projects or programs.

This year is the 20th anniversary for the P.R.I.D.E. Awards. The awards are sponsored by the Citizens Environmental Commission. The commission is composed of a broad group of community volunteers. Its mission is to promote an increased awareness and understanding of environmental issues in DeKalb and recommend practical means for environmental improvement.

To nominate a person, business or other entity in DeKalb for the award, visit www.cityofdekalb.com and complete the nomination form.

Nominations are due by 3 p.m. on Dec. 21. Awards will be presented by the chair of the commission at a Feb. 11 city council meeting.
